The E-Africa Research Institute for Technology & Economics is appointing the inaugural seven members of its Board of Advisors. We are seeking senior leaders in research, law, finance, technology and partnerships to guide Zambia's home-grown think tank for the digital economy as it scales across the region.

01Chairperson — Board of Advisors Appointed

Convenes and chairs quarterly advisory meetings, sets the agenda with the Executive Director, and serves as ERITE's senior ambassador to government, funders and institutional partners.

AppointedDr. Caleb M. Fundanga — former Governor of the Bank of Zambia (2002–2011) and Senior Advisor at the International Monetary Fund. Dr. Fundanga chairs the Board of Advisors.

02Legal & Governance Advisor

Advises on governance frameworks, board charters and regulatory compliance; reviews MOUs, partnership agreements and institutional policies; supports ERITE's standing as a well-governed institution.

ProfileLegal practitioner admitted to the Zambian Bar (LAZ member), with corporate governance, NGO law or institutional advisory experience.

03Research & Policy Advisor

Advises on the research agenda, methodology quality and publication standards; reviews flagship outputs before release; helps position ERITE in national and regional policy debates.

ProfileSenior academic or policy researcher in economics, technology policy or development, with a publication record and peer-review experience.

04Finance & Audit Advisor

Oversees financial governance: reviews budgets, management accounts and annual audits; advises on internal controls and statutory compliance (ZRA, NAPSA, NHIMA, PACRA).

ProfileChartered accountant (ZICA / ACCA / CIMA), ideally with NGO or institutional board experience.

05Technology & Innovation Advisor

Guides ERITE's digital economy work — fintech, AI and digital transformation research — and advises the SME incubator on technology trends and partnerships.

ProfileSenior technology leader with startup or fintech ecosystem experience and regional innovation networks.

06Partnerships & Resource Mobilisation Advisor

Opens doors: donor relations, corporate partnerships and grant strategy across ERITE's programmes, including the eAfrica Expo and the SME incubator.

ProfileTrack record in fundraising or institutional partnerships, with relationships across development partners, DFIs, foundations or corporates.

07Youth & Entrepreneurship Advisor

Champions ERITE's youth-focused programmes: advises the SME incubator on founder support, mentorship design and ecosystem building, and ensures ERITE's research speaks to Zambia's young, entrepreneurial population.

ProfileFounder or ecosystem builder with hands-on experience scaling ventures or running entrepreneurship programmes in Zambia or the region.

// Terms of Appointment

Term
Two years, renewable once by mutual agreement.
Commitment
Four advisory meetings per year — at least two held virtually.
Remuneration
Voluntary and unremunerated; reasonable expenses covered.
Integrity
Signed conflict-of-interest declaration required on appointment.

Expressions of interest are reviewed by the nominations committee. Shortlisted candidates are invited to an introductory conversation with the Executive Director.
