1. Internship Duration and Hours
• The internship at the EAfrica Research Institute for Technology and Economics (ERITE) is in intervals of 3 months
• Interns are expected to work at least 36 hours per week, with working hours from 08:30hrs to 5:00hrs, 5 days a week. Flexibility in working hours may be discussed with the supervisor, subject to project requirements.
2. Stipend and Compensation
• This internship is PAID Internship.
• Any work-related expenses incurred during the internship, such as travel or materials, must be pre-approved by ERITE to be eligible for reimbursement.
3. Confidentiality and Data Protection
• Interns must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all proprietary information, research data, and any other sensitive material encountered during their internship. This obligation extends beyond the conclusion of the internship.
• Interns must comply with ERITE’s data protection policies and are required to sign a confidentiality agreement prior to commencing their internship.
4. Intellectual Property
• Any work, research, reports, or other outputs produced by the intern during the internship shall be the intellectual property of ERITE. The intern agrees to assign all rights to ERITE, and proper credit will be given to the intern where appropriate.
• The intern may request permission to use work produced during the internship for academic or portfolio purposes, subject to approval from ERITE.
5. Professional Conduct
• Interns are expected to conduct themselves professionally at all times, adhering to ERITE’s code of conduct, including but not limited to dress code, punctuality, and respectful communication with colleagues.
• Any breach of ERITE’s code of conduct may result in the immediate termination of the internship.
6. Termination Clause
• ERITE reserves the right to terminate the internship at any time for reasons including, but not limited to, unsatisfactory performance, breach of confidentiality, or misconduct.
• The intern may also terminate the internship by providing two weeks' written notice to their supervisor.
7. Learning Objectives and Evaluation
• ERITE will work with the intern to establish clear learning objectives at the beginning of the internship. These objectives will be reviewed mid-term and at the conclusion of the internship.
• The intern will receive formal feedback from their supervisor, and upon successful completion of the internship, a certificate and/or a letter of recommendation may be provided.
8. Insurance and Liability
• Interns are responsible for arranging their own health and accident insurance. ERITE is not liable for any injuries or health issues that arise during the internship period.
9. Potential for Full-time Employment
• Completion of the internship does not guarantee an offer of full-time employment. However, exceptional performance may lead to consideration for future opportunities within ERITE.
